What rectification is

Recovering your birth time from the story of your life

Rectification is the classical astrological practice of working out an unknown or uncertain birth time. Instead of asking you for the time, it looks at when real, dateable things happened to you — a marriage, a birth, a move, a turning point — and finds the birth moment whose chart best explains them.

The result is a probable time window and a most-likely minute, each with a clear confidence level and the evidence behind it — not a bare number you have to take on faith.

Why one minute changes everything

The birth time is the anchor of the whole chart. Get it wrong and the most personal layers move.

Your rising sign shifts about every two hours

The ascendant moves through the whole zodiac in a day. A birth time that's off by an hour or two can hand you an entirely different rising sign — and a different first impression, chart shape and life emphasis.

House cusps move within a single minute

The house boundaries advance minute by minute. A tiny error can slide a planet from one house into the next — moving it from, say, your career to your home, or your money to your relationships.

How it works — three steps

From your life events to a probable birth-time window, with the reasoning shown.

Enter your dated life events

Marriage, the birth of a child, a move, a career jump, surgery — the milestones you can date. The more precise the dates, the tighter the result.

The engine sweeps every candidate minute

Across your birth window it tests each possible minute against your events using a classical symbolic method, and scores how well each moment fits.

A probable window + the evidence

You get the most likely minute, a probable time window, a confidence level, and an event-by-event table showing which moments confirmed the time.

Transparent evidence

An honest answer, not a false promise

We will never claim to have found your birth time to the exact second, and we won't call anything "100% accurate". What you get is a probable time window, the most likely minute within it, and a confidence level that tells you plainly how sure that answer is.

When your events pin the time tightly, the window is narrow and the confidence is high. When they don't, we say so — a wide window is labelled honestly rather than dressed up as certainty.

What makes ours different

Serious method, shown openly — so you can trust the result and see why.

Professional astronomical calculation

Real planetary positions and house cusps for your place and date — computed to the minute, not guessed.

A classical symbolic method

Your candidate times are tested with symbolic directions — the long-standing, time-honoured technique astrologers use to tie chart moments to real events.

The rule of three indications

A time isn't accepted on a single coincidence. Several independent events have to point to the same moment before it counts.

Transparent per-event evidence

Every event you enter shows exactly which chart movements confirmed it — you can see the reasoning, not just a number.

An honest confidence level

You always know how sure the result is. A wide, uncertain window is labelled as such — we never dress a guess up as certainty.

Frequently asked questions

Can you find my exact birth time to the second?+
No — and any tool that promises that is overselling. Rectification recovers a probable time window and the most likely minute, together with a confidence level. With several well-dated, significant events the window can be very narrow; with few or vague events it stays wider. We always show you honestly how sure the result is.
How many events do I need?+
At least three. The classical rule of three indications means a time is only accepted when several independent events point to the same moment. Bright, well-dated events — marriage, the birth of a child, a move, surgery — pin the time most strongly. The more you can add, the tighter and more confident the window.
What if I have no idea of my birth time at all?+
You can still run it — just tick 'I don't know the time at all'. The engine then sweeps the whole day. Be aware the wider the starting window, the slower the calculation and the less precise the result, so it's worth trying to narrow it down with family first (a rough 'morning' or 'evening' helps a lot).
Why does one minute matter so much?+
The ascending sign changes roughly every two hours, and the house cusps shift within a single minute. A small difference in birth time can move planets between houses and change your rising sign entirely — which is why an accurate time is the foundation of the whole chart.
How is this different from a free 'rising sign' calculator?+
A calculator just tells you the rising sign for a time you already type in. Rectification works backwards: it recovers the time itself from your life events, using professional astronomical calculation and a classical symbolic method, and shows you the evidence for its answer.
How long does it take?+
Usually a few minutes once you submit your events. A wider birth window (or 'I don't know the time') takes longer because more candidate minutes have to be tested.
